Divo ;-)

One year ago tonight I lost my sweet little friend Divo (well, technically tomorrow, the 13th, but it was Saturday night). So many of my friends helped me look for him and post flyers, for hours that night, for days and weeks ahead. All of your support and reaching out meant the world to me, truly. I still catch myself occasionally saying his name when I call Lovey and Manny. Manny's ears still perk up when he hears it.... Missing you something fierce tonight my little friend....... ;-)

I am getting ready to start working on a new blog, hosted on a different site that allows more seamless sharing of pictures and galleries, etc. If you would like to keep up with the new site, drop me a line at Dymile77@gmail.com and I'll send you the address when it is ready!

Thank you so much to those who have followed this blog! I may still post here from time to time, but will post most all of my photography ventures on the new site ;-)

San Fran ~ The City By the Bay

Pier 39

Dancing bears at Hard Rock on the pier!

One of many street performers along the wharf

Laughing Sal, one of the most popular characters at the Musee Mecanique (an old-fashioned coin-operated arcade). Super cool place!!

Sea lion babies at the pier!! No, I know, they're not technically babies LOL but still.... they were so precious with their barking, cuddling, and practically begging to have their picture taken ;-P

Alcatraz as the fog rolls in....

Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park

Loved, loved, loved exploring Haight-Ashbury....

Casa de Jerry Garcia!

Amma! ;-)

Amma is here, tonight, in Dallas!! Go see her. You will never forget this experience, I promise! We are very lucky to have her here in our city, as many people travel hundreds or thousands of miles to receive her blessing. Services this morning and evening at the Hotel Intercontinental ;-)

More from assignment numero cuatro....

Current assignment (self-portraits) calls for some metaphorical shots, meaning that the pictures aren't of me, but rather things that symbolize me or are important to me.

And some more metaphorical shots.... If you or anyone you know might be interested in volunteering with hospice, email me and I can tell you about some amazing opportunities! It has truly been a life-changing experience.... and I would love to share this work with other people ;-)

Wait.......

Wait.... did I just take pics of myself with a green clay mask on....?! Has someone slipped me something? ROFL Maybe this self-portrait thing will be more fun than I thought ;-P

5:53am....

Success!! First part of assignment número cuatro is complete. I have broken the ice with a 5am shoot. Title? Insomnia. Seriously just rolled right out of bed after being awake for awhile and took the shots. Not sure I'll post them LOL but boy are they honest, and do they ever show sleeplessness in action ;-P

The Familiar in an Unfamiliar Way

Our third assignment is called Familiar in an Unfamiliar Way. The purpose of this project is to take photographs from unusual points of view, or to pair familiar items that wouldn't normally cross paths. The later aspect has definitely been more challenging, but an idea came to me Monday night. My original thought was to find a way to make a bouquet of cigarettes, then baby's breath came to mind. Not a common pairing, cigarettes and flowers, but I found baby's breath to be even more fitting for this shot, as we most certainly don't associate baby's, or the breath of a baby with cigarettes.
